The Österberg Collection is a valuable asset to the Bergman Österberg Union and makes important contributions to:
– the history of education and physical education
– women’s history
– local history of Dartford, Kent
– family history research
The Österberg Collection receives enquiries from a wide variety of interested people in the UK and overseas. We usually encourage enquirers to visit the Collection in person, as there is so much information available in the Collection that once researchers realise what a rich source of material we have, they often stay longer than they intended and leave with plans to return.
The Österberg Collection contains books, college uniform, committee papers, diploma badges, games equipment and clothing, letters, photographs and photograph albums.
Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteer cataloguers, Alan Gamwell and Gwen Seabrook Smith, we have almost 7,000 records in our database (and there is much more work to do).

This database operates best with key word searches rather than phrases.
For example, to find ‘Ann Packer winning Olympic gold’ search first for Packer. Then refine the resulting subset by entering Olympics in the search box.
