The BÖU Archive is a valuable asset to the Bergman Österberg Union and makes important contributions to:
– the history of education and physical education
– women’s history
– local history of Dartford, Kent
– family history research
The Archive receives enquiries from a wide variety of interested people in the UK and overseas. We usually encourage enquirers to visit the Archive in person, as there is so much information available in our collection and once researchers realise what a rich source of material we have, they often stay longer than they intended and leave with plans to return.
The Archive contains books, college uniform, committee papers, diploma badges, games equipment and clothing, letters, photographs and photograph albums.
Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteer cataloguers, Alan Gamwell and Gwen Seabrook Smith, we have over 6,000 records in our database (and there is much more work to do).
